The study investigates the perception of members with regard to prophecy: A case study of Lulamba U.C.Z Congregation in Chingola District.
Lulamba Congregation is located South West of Chingola Town in Lulamba township which used to be a residential area for miners.
The aims of the study are therefore firstly, to investigate the understanding that members have with regard to prophecy. Secondly, to study the upcoming phenomenon or trend that attracts Christians to visit the so called prophets. And thirdly, to assess the opinions of a selected individuals and leaders in the United Church of Zambia before making recommendations on what the church should do in order to address the problem. The researcher presupposes that through the outcomes of this research the church would be able provide the needed response in addressing the effects of the prophetic practices that has given rise to the concept of dual membership.
In order to collect data for this research and come up with tangible and practical conclusions the researcher used a mixed survey method of research. The tools or Methods of collecting data comprised of interviews, focused group discussions, questionnaires, the library research and observations during pastoral visitations.
The research focused on Lulamba U.C.Z Congregation because of the social phenomenon of dual membership that was observed as an effect of the prophetic practices.
