Description
This study indicates that Grace Communion International has been established in Zambia for nearly fifty years. In spite of nearly a half-century of existence in Zambia, the church has experienced very slow growth. This paper identifies a research problem and uses four research objectives and their corresponding research questions to find solutions to the problem of slow church growth experienced by Grace Communion International in Zambia. While these objectives analyze the research problem, research questions probe research materials to find the root causes of stagnation.
By using qualitative research, this study leans on historical narratives and causal-comparative approaches to examine available data and Literature for paths that lead to the causes of the research problem. The hypothesis of this study is that there are underlying causes that have led to the present condition of Grace Communion International in Zambia.
These are the gaps that this study is taking steps to address. Research indicates that, at this time, there is no numerical growth in Grace Communion International in Zambia. Unless this stagnation is investigated to find causes and provide workable remedies, there will be a further retrogression which may lead to the closure of Churches for lack of progress. This research observes that the closure of churches is a contrary step to fulfilling the commission given by Jesus Christ. This paper has also come across data that shows that sometimes it is inevitable for denominations to close doors and wind up Mission work. However, this is the last resort. Thus, this research paper encourages Grace Communion International in Zambia to keep going forward by putting available resources into evangelism, leadership, and membership training.
